The mission of Classical Preparatory School is to provide a language-focused academic program to students in Kindergarten through grade 12. The school will focus on the three-part process of classical education: Training the mind to absorb facts, thinking through arguments, and learning the art of self-expression. Character education will also be an important component of the school's curriculum.
If approved, Classical Preparatory would open for the 2013-2014 school year. In year 1 the school projects it would serve 254 students in grades K-8; year 2: 342 students in grades K-9; year 3: 430 students in grades K-10; year 4: 474 students in grades K-11; and year 5: 518 students in grades K-12.
Classical Preparatory, Inc. is a Florida non-profit corporation and has been granted 501 (c) (3) status.
A location has not been confirmed; however, the applicant is considering a facility near I-75 and SR 56 in Wesley Chapel.
The Charter Application Review Committee conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the application. Seventeen of the 18 sections of in the Florida Model Charter School Evaluation Instrument met or practically met the minimum standard of review.
